Find Your Broadway Voice – Elisa Dal Corso

workshop (90 min.)
Mon 7 July 15.00 - 16.30
Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre

“The word musical theatre means an impressive amount of musical genres and vocal techniques: we go from West Side Story or Les Miserables, where we have a classical orchestration, roles with pop vocals and lyrical choirs, to Wicked or Lion King, where the vocals are modern and even the accompaniment needs a band and an orchestra. But then we also have the rock of Jesus Christ Superstar, the jazz of An American in Paris, the lyric of The Phantom of the Opera, the gospel of Sister Act, etc., etc.

So how many voices must a musical theatre performer or a musical chorister have?
Or maybe there is only one voice, and it can be dressed in different colors depending on the genre it has to face?

Have you ever heard of belting, speech, opera, sob, falsetto, twang?
These are all vocal qualities that our voice can learn to emit, making small changes in the vocal emission.

In this workshop, through a choral repertoire from musicals of different genres, we will learn to emit very different sounds, classical and modern, fully respecting the health of our voice and our body.”
